ACARA FILMING
On Monday 22 September Yokine Primary School will be hosting a film crew from ACARA (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority).
We have been chosen to demonstrate how we implement the Australian Curriculum in our school, and are lucky enough to have the video broadcast on the ACARA website.
Consent forms have been handed to students, it is imperative that these are returned before the day of filming otherwise your student will be removed from the classroom during the lesson.
Room 11 students, along with myself will be filmed during our Maths lesson - which will be focusing on Algebra.

Book week
Week 5 has seen us celebrate Book Week within the school. The year 6/7's have been lucky enough to read to a few younger grades.
On Tuesday we read with the Pre Primary students in PP2. All the students were engaged and it was great to see the older kids really enjoy spending time with the younger ones. Lots of reading and conversation was had by all.

We have also been lucky enough to spend Friday morning reading with the students in Kindy 2. It was great to see so many engaged students and to also see some of the Year 7's involve themselves in the Kindy's play.
welcome to term 3
Another term down, 2 more to go for the year. As the year progresses the terms do become busier. This term is no exception. Edu-Dance starts on Monday 28 July. This will run for the entire term; our time slot is on a Monday morning from 8.50 - 9.20. As this is part of the Health and Physical Education curriculum it is expected that all students participate. Money is due no later than Friday 25 July (week 1). Students who do not pay will be provided a work package and will sit in the undercover area whilst the class enjoy their dance lesson.
Swimming will be held during weeks 4 & 5. Notes will be coming home early in the term so money can be paid in advance.
Room 11 will also be performing their assembly item in week 8 of term. At this stage a theme/performance has not been decided upon. Further information will be provided during the term. It would be great to see as many of you there on the day, supporting your children and the class.
For T&E this term, students will be making mouse trap racers. This is a great activity to tie in some science concepts and will allow the students to use their imagination with their own personalised design. The class will be involved in a specialised lesson each week on a Friday and midway through the term we will hold a testing day, with the final racers needing to be ready to race in week 1, term 4. I will be providing the mouse traps, the rest of the materials will be up to the student to provide.
Maths groups will start this term focusing on Geometry. Any relevant information can be accessed here.
We also have the faction athletics carnival on Friday 5 September (week 7). During sport every Friday students are practising the events and making sure they are ready for the big day. The interschool jumps and carnival will be held in week 9 of term, with jumps on Tuesday 16/9 and the carnvial on Friday 19/9.
I will continue to update this page as the term continues. Remember to please get in touch throughout the term if you have any questions or concerns.
